Train derailment with hazardous materials on board. Just before this Conrail locomotive entered the Utica yard the train derailed at high speeds. About 20 freight cars began piling on top of each other. Shown in picture old 202 and Engine 2.

UFD apparatus in front of the Days Inn Hotel on Genesee St. The hotel suffered a large 2 alarm fire. Apparatus left to right is old Engine1 now Engine9R, old Truck2 now Truck3R, old Engine7 now Engine4.

Silhouette of a Utica Firefighter at the Catherine Street fire described in next photo.

Deputy Chief Russell Brooks stands in front of a fully involved 3 story on Catherine St. This alarm was received during another major fire at the Pride of Utica ice cream factory. This was a very chaotic night for the UFD.

Truck 1 and Engine 4 arrive first due at a well involved 2 1/2 story frame. Fires like this become common place in Utica during the 1990's. Hundred's of working fires a year have resulted in the organizing of the Utica Arson Strike Force.
