Engine 3
Back to History
Section
 |
| Engine 3 was started
as one of the original pieces in the paid department of 1874. It is
not known where this company was housed in 1874 but some records
show that in 1888 it was located on Washington Street in rented
quarters. Soon after this the city built a house for the company on
the east side of Washington Street north of Lafayette Street. Engine
3 was taken out of service a few times, most notably in 1944 because
of a lack of manpower from WWII, and spent decades as an active
reserve rig on Eagle Street in the same quarters as Engine 8. In the
early 80's it received a 1973 Seagrave originally assigned to Engine
2 and was placed back in service in a new station house on Mohawk
Street. |
