Engine 5

Engine 5 was the first addition to the department since it became a paid force in 1874. It entered service in 1885 with an 1874 Cole Brothers Steamer pictured below. The establishment of engine 5 was to protect the large growing population of East Utica and a new house was built to house it on Blandina and Albany Streets. In 1915 the old steamer was replaced with a 1915 American LaFrance 750 GPM pumper pictured below. Pictured above is its 1949 LaFrance 1000 GPM pumper.
